So what do you think? Can you tell I was wearing my safari dress? Ok you probably could, but I was pretty impressed with myself..haha as I usually am. I have about two items I haven't worn yet, and well I am really stretching guys...literally. I knew something was wrong this morning because husband walked in the bathroom and instead of saying "oooh I like that" he went "........" notice how I didn't write anything there? yeah...that's cuz he was silent...and then took a second look..and a third look..and then went "Is that the dress you wore the other day? Why don't you just wear it normal?" so I said "Umm hello...I am supposed to be remixing the outfit..and I already wore it normal..GET WITH THE PROGRAM!" I then proceeded to down my coffee and huff and puff out of the bathroom..I never realized how his opinion affected my mood..apparently I care what he thinks? who would have thunk it..Sister if you are reading..I DO dress for husband...sometimes...haha

So I have to thank my photographer extraordinaire...we have come a long way...these pictures are great rigtht? I mean I am an amazing model...he he just kidding...seriously...my friend..and amateur photographer is amazing..and the time that is spent taking these pictures is priceless...I know how hard it is to do this..I mean..if you scroll down to the first couple of outfits you can see the work husband does..let's just say I look angry and the photos look like poop. She also thought that a photo shoot in the dumpster would be fantastic, she has all of these visions and I love it! I mean a dumpster? ..I laughed and then preceded to walk amongst lard, orange slices and grease...I think they actually turned out quite nice. I look pretty next to trash! What a great concept! haha So Thank you secret photographer...I hope I continue to inspire you cuz you inspire me :O)

Buckles, Ruffles and Polka Dots Oh My...

Shoes: Banana Republic $10 (2011), Tights: Betsy Johnson, Dress: Max and Cleo Gifted (2011), Belt: Express Thrifted $1.50 (2010), Jacket: H&M (2009), Earrings: OLD..very very old...I found them in an old purse don't you love that!

So just in case you were wondering, I am having a good timewith this challenge but I am sooo excited I am over the half way mark. While I have really enjoyed it and will continue for the next 11 days,  I have never been so excited to wear my own clothes! haha that sounds funny..but I seriously dream of dresses and tops I haven't worn in years and think about how I can style them...with the 80 pairs of shoes I have left in boxes sitting in my closet because I have been so boring for the majority of my life and haven't worn them!! Well, I guess I just have to get over it since I still have a ways to go...the weather seems to be getting a little better, I never realized how much the sun can affect my mood! I am definitely a Vegas girl..I need Mountains, Sun, and 24 hour access to anything I want..he he he..

I had to bring up the Oscars since we were talking about fashion....unfortunately sometimes it is not about the films as much as it is about what everyone is wearing! I hate to admit it, being a ballerina, lover of horror and Natalie Portman, but I haven't seen Black Swan yet..Sister!!! If you are reading this we need to go see it before it leaves the theatre!!!
So, umm sometimes I just don't agree with all of the critics out there, Joan Rivers is funny sometimes but I don't always agree with her rants. I like weird...off the wall, and totally out of the ordinary...so here are some of my favorites in no particular order.

1. Strangely Vintage Amazingness: I LOVED this dress Cate Blanchet wore by Givenchy. Everyone is already saying it is hideous...but I think it is stunningly weird and Cate rocked this vintage looking piece.

Cate Blanchett.

2. Necklace on Sequins: Amy Adams was stunning in her tight L'Wren Scott and Cartier necklace, (which I think is awesome) Necklace on sequins = genius. And the old school finger waves.....I WILL be doing this this weekend...hmmm
 Amy Adams.

3. Lace and charcoal: Now, everyone talked crap about Scarlet Johansson's dress, but she was probably my favorite..so romantic, so vintage, and so not expected. Look at her makeup, the charcoal liner, with the rusted orange/red shadow! ughhh...Love you Scarlett.

4. Lilac Ruffles: Mila Kunis and this ridiculous lilac lace gown from Elie Saab, and I am trying to figure out how I can replicate it...hmmm so pretty!

5. and last but not least...my lovely Natalie Portman...I am in love with her prego amazingness and those tassel earrings will need to be in my collection...I will be on the hunt! I am also loving the side swept hair!

Since it was my first time I have definitely learned a few things about myself and what I used to think didn't work. I mean this is the last combo I would have taken out of my closet...but I have said it before..when you are forced to do something, you MAKE IT WORK! I think that goes for life too. Sometimes we just need to be forced to do something in order to make it happen. I am a procrastinator and when I have a deadline I am at my most creative and that is when magic happens I tell ya! Weekend Wrap Up:
  • Friday night was spent finishing up some amazing crafts and gifts we made for our dear friends baby shower's. Yes, I meant to make that plural..we had two baby showers this weekend! These are the baskets we made! I will do another DIY post on how you can make a diaper basket filled with amazing finds and necessities for under $50! So many amazing babies in our lives

  • One of my best friends had her baby on Friday, and I have been so busy I haven't even met her!! I can't wait...her mama makes pretty babies..that would be 4 babies that have entered my life in the past year...a total of 10 babies amongst all of my friends...is the universe trying to send me a message?
  • Body By Ken was amazing again..he really has stepped it up since we started. He had us doing some crazy chest tracks..but I must say I busted out 10 MEN push ups at an incline after a 30 minute interval on the stair followed by some super sets! I can't wait to show you guys some of the moves we have been doing..I promise I will post soon...you are gonna love what these do to those body parts you want to look good in your swimsuit, dress, or just tank top!
  • Husband and I had a date night and were invited by some great friends to check out the UNLV Rebel game...Vegas isn't exactly well known for any sports teams, but our REBEL'S have been kicking some butt and the game was awesome! I was reminded how old I was though after seeing all of the fraternity and sorority girls walking by...I was in Delta Zeta and we just loved going to the games! After the game we went to this amazing Thai restaurant we stumbled upon, there was a wedding inside, a bar fight, and husband almost vomited from his spicy curry dish. He asked for a 7 (1-10) haha he then followed that up by a stop at Krispy Kremes for 3 doughnuts...let's just say..on our way home..he threw up in his mouth, it was super sexy haha :O)

Inspiring Minds Want To Know

Well folks..I am inspired...I am inspired that you are inspired, which in turn inspires me..See, after my mom passed away, I think a little piece of me passed away with her. I know, I know, she is here with me, my sister, my dad..but honestly. She's not...she isn't here to see how much my sister has grown into this intelligent women, or my dad become this successfully, handsome radio host..which by the way...you must check out his radio show Community Speaks if you are here in LV..and if you are not you can listen RIGHT HERE. Anyway, about a year and half ago I promised myself I would only do things that inspired me. I thought it would be easy since I knew what inspired me already..until I realized that there are so many things that can affect how you live your life. So I thought I would share with you what I have learned about myself and what inspires me..here are just a few...
  1. Family:The obvious choice right? well, I am always asked why I haven't left Las Vegas, why I never really pushed to move away for college..I usually joke and say my mom wouldn't let me live across the street let alone in another state. But it took me 30 years to realize that I didn't want to leave, because my family inspires me. I see my dad everyday at work..and I can't imagine it any other way..I see my sister at least once a week if not 4 or 5...They are my air...I feel like I can exhale after I am with them..husband is my family too..but I see him more...though our date nights make it even more special. I need my family for everything...maybe it isn't always good since I can't even make a decision without consulting my dad...but honestly I wouldn't have it any other way...
  2. Clothes:I never thought to push my wardrobe, since I put myself in a "You have a big feet, too tall, olive skin, muscular thighs, business appropriate" category. Why have I been telling myself I can't do things for so long? It's like I have been putting myself down for most of my life. I found out that it wasn't others who said I was too big to wear something, it was ME. So I told myself to take a hike, and VOILA! I like the new Shana, she let's me wear anything I want..even if someone else told me not too :O) ok I will stop talking in third person. haha
  3. Fitness:Who would have thought dressing up to feel sexy could change your life in so many ways! I never wanted to seem better than anyone, but when I changed #2, I was able to realize #3 that working out was a part of my life, and I wanted to be healthy, but not only from the inside, I wanted to look as strong as I am..you know what I mean..I'm not back to my old ballet self..but I have never felt better..WHY? because I stopped telling myself that I needed to be a certain way..I just started living everyday telling myself, I am this way. It made it a lot easier...because if I was happy with who I was..I knew that I wasn't trying to be something I could never be! Voila! My goal was much more realistic and attainable...haha I mean..If my goal is to be me..then I have already won! #2 makes me want to eat better and workout..which in turn is what I like doing, who would have thunk it!
  4. Dinner:Growing up, we always had dinner together. ALWAYS! It didn't matter what we were doing...we had to be home at 6pm and eat dinner together. Talk about our dreams, life, whatever..well then I moved out..went to college..and what the heck happened to dinner? It became..."I'm too tired to cook, let's just make a sandwich and watch t.v." I never realized how much it affected me...until I got married and realized how important it was to sit down together at the end of the day..no tv..and eat dinner. Husband inspires me...we talk about our dreams, life...and then I go and watch t.v. (you didn't think I was gonna give up everything did you?)
  5. Music:Ok so my family has always inspired me, but together we are pretty talented, I'm not gonna lie. I started playing piano with my sister at age 7 and started playing the viola at age 11. I played for many years even playing in the youth symphony...and then..I stopped...WHY!!!! I get so angry when I think about how great I could be...or just how much I miss playing. Music inspires me in a way that I can not even explain. Playing music, dancing to music, working out to music. I didn't realize I needed music in my life until I stopped playing it. Music is literally theme music for your life, and if I am not performing I am not complete. So my dad started a band...haha yep...he is pretty serious about it...he told me I had to audition...after I laughed, I then rushed to the music store to get my strings checked out on my viola...I haven't been this excited in a long time. We are looking to record our first song this summer...haven't thought of a name for the band..but definitely keep a look out hahaha
Have a wonderful weekend! and thank you to all who have inspired me..I hope that I can do the same for you :O)
