WEEK 4: The Vintage & thrifted finds I will be using & PROGRESS!

Well, it is WEEK 4 time to start this challenge. Just me in my vintage house dress haha I know I keep looking at everyone's progress & lets just say most are getting things wrapped up and I'm over here like look I moved some furniture and started smoothing the walls! haha ok I am not smoothing the walls. While my hubby and I are more than capable our lifestyle right now is just too busy to even do the smallest of things. I have a few things we will be doing. I have a fun hack we are trying this weekend so  stay tuned. Here is where the space is today!

Oh and you can check out everyone else's HERE!

SO It is already looking amazing which is a good sign! So let's chat re upholstering and fabric and colors and some of my vintage finds that I want to use in this challenge!
FIRST is my grandmas couches. She had these in formal living room with plastic on top. I LOVED THEM as a child and I love them today. The fabric is actually beautiful but they have been used and loved and it is time for a new look!
This is the large one. THIS is the color I am leaning towards. Saw this when I was filming STORAGE WARS a few years back.
I am thinking I will keep the wood dark but this fabric and color!!

I also have this Tigers Wood chest from my aunt. I LOVE the wood but it needs some love. I am no wood expert so this is going to take some research but I have some plans for this we shall see.
Here are some inspo

Now I want to keep the integrity but I need it to be functional as well. I really need to this on this. This will go in the entry way!
This is a needle point my mom did that is now at the church in North Vista Hospital. I will be attempting to paint this portrait!

These incredible chairs I found at Deseret Industries for wait for it. $7 They have rams heads on them and they are stunning. With my Aries son I thought these would be perfect at the end of my grandfathers dining table I am also keeping. I still need to decide on the fabric !

This chair is giving me life and inspo for these chairs but I also love the gold and black!

Not the best pic but this was handed down from my grandma to to my mom and dad. Marble top with a brass little boy. I LOVE IT I don't know how to remove a stain from marble I think that is gonna be impossible so a doily may have to cut it but I do want to use this!

This mirror. This used to be in the entry way of my nanas house. I LOVED this mirror. It was then moved to the living room. I am still toying with where to move it but it will be used!

Picked this up at an estate sale. Not sure if it will make the cut but I LOVE IT

This candle holder picked up at Goodwill!

Might use this antique folding trey passed down from Adam's grandma

I also LOVE these vintage lamps I picked up..THEY willbe going in the space and inspired the green!I have 2 of these I found at Vintage Market days over a month ago!

Oh and remember this from my first challenge? Goodwill find Japanese tea table... yeah I have some big plans for this also!!! EEEK ok I am getting excited!

I have a lot more! But this was just a preview of what I am looking to use! You can follow along on Instagram as I transform these! https://www.instagram.com/shanaemily_/

Special thank you to the One Room Challenge and Apartment Therapy. I NEED this now more than ever. I feel like every time I do one of these I am going through something pretty emotional. Will share more but until then! I NEED your help on Instagram! See you there!

Love,

Shana

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE SPRING 2022 - WEEK THREE Choosing the perfect Wallpaper for a Dining Room & Entry Way

It was around this time last year when I told my hubby I was doing the One Room Challenge and I was wanting so badly to use wallpaper. He first asked me if I was nuts with everything on my plate to do a challenge that I have no business doing haha but then laughed when I said I would be attempting my first wallpaper application. Let's face it I didn't do it perfectly I faltered, I messed up...I even had to RE DO it haha but I look over at it every single day and I am so inspired. Like..I DID that...I came up with this whole room...it has pieces of my treasures , family heirlooms, and little stories in every corner...that is all my own. So...THAT my friends is why I am going to be doing this again!

I may be in over my head but what's new right? SO..On to wallpaper and some of my ideas for the entry way and dining room / adult lounge in our home! I LOVE Milton & King and I find myself scrolling through the hundreds of designs they carry on a daily basis.
After a few days I finally went in and chose a few that inspired me and had the samples delivered. I already had one of them from the 1st ORC I did and got about 5 more! Here are the options!!

I am still deciding on which room and or where I will be placing it but I am going to let my vision be driven by some of the antiques I have and go from there!

I know...these are all so different...but I feel like they each evoke a different vibe. These are the ones I am looking at for the dining room/adult lounge. The 1st one is called Almond Blossom...and a little know fact...I am OBSESSED with Peacocks...the bird, the color all of it. The next one is Tuscan Landscape, I have been looking at this one for a while...something about this just screams dining room...my issue is the wall keeps going so I can't really wallpaper the whole wall I have to either frame it choose a different wall...The next one I was looking at I totally forgot to order the sample but it is called Paradise. I kind of like the idea of black and white which lends itself to adding more color but again WHERE! haha Ugh so these were the ones I was looking at for the dining room . Oh and this one ...I really liked this one

I know I am all over the place. This one is called Shadow Palms Mural. NEXT is the Entry Way. I was looking at this one haha only because I was drawn to the red and the all green with the bamboo but it TOTALLY doesn't go with any of the vibes anywhere haha Oh and for a second I was also looking at the black version and Chartruese version of Almond Blossom

I told you I was all over the place. NOW for the entry way I am looking at possibly going with one of the murals...OR Baroque Fusion...something about this large scale print caught my eye I was even thinking of playing around with the ceiling. Ugh. You guys....While I have all of the antiques and pretty much everything I need I do need to pin down an idea cuz guess what....I have my painters coming to skim the walls on MONDAY. So I guess I will be making some decisions FAST!

I have another day to make the final decision on which wallpaper to choose. It will probably take a week and half to get it so I need to order it Monday or Tuesday.

Well, I scheduled the painters...I also picked up paint swatches but need to finalize the wallpaper for final decisions! Week 3 is in the books and I finally feel like I am moving in the right direction! Would love your thoughts I am also going to post on Instagram to poll cuz that is fun even when I don't listen to it! haha

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE SPRING 2022 - WEEK TWO Finalizing the Mood Board, Making decisions on colors & projects to start!

To say I am off to a slow start is an understatement. So what...it's only 3 different spaces in one gigantic room...I can do this...and then our kitchen faucet started leaking and instead of the 1st project the hubby and I were supposed to work on we spent most of the day fixing THAT. Don't worry Captain America was with us so I felt safe haha I did pick up some swatches of paint though so that was productive hahaa

Ugh I think sometimes it is overwhelming when you watch everyone else demolishing their spaces and making incredible progress! Speaking of you can check out everyone participating HERE!

I'm over here like...hmmm what color should I paint the wall. I can't even decide on THAT haha I am so excited to be partnering with some of my absolute favorite companies but I just have to really start making some decisions. My 1st job right now is to create this mood board that isn't ADD and really focus on the color palette. Secondly, I am going to decide on the built ins and how I want them to look. SO, that is what this post will be about today. I will walk you through my brain..and maybe...just maybe you can help me make some decisions!!

SOOO, As I wait for Wallpaper Samples I first need to decide on the built ins. Here are some of my inspirations. See I am turning this side of the living room into an adult lounge.

So here are some of my decisions and options. I decided to do a mood board for each project I just can't focus guys!! I feel like I am in school and I won't get inspired until the day before my paper is due haha Anyway Would love any and all thoughts and options!! Helps so much!! And to those of you working on the ORC WELCOME! and Good luck!

So here are some Mood boards I am playing with for the ADULT LOUNGE / Prior Formal Living Room. I just keep playing with things. I am so driven by the incredible antiques I own that have been handed down and I am trying to let them guide me..but it has been hard! I just can't quite decide on ANYTHING other than the color for my grandma's victorian couches I want to re -upholster. So I am going to make a call tomorrow and start on that STAT. Oh and I am painting that gypsy lady..she is a needlpoint my mom made. So I better start on that also. ok I guess I do have some projects I can start!!
Not sure if I like the arches now...and since my walls kind of flow through I don't think I can do a color other than a white.

BUILT INS

So if you followed my 1st One Room Challenge, the hubby and I built the built ins from scratch...like no hack, no pre built nothin. It is beautiful, but we just do not have the time to do that this time. SO I found a few hacks that we can use to create the below!

OPTION 1: The 1st option is the Arched built ins. I still need to decide if the one in the middle will have a table to act as a dry bar with shelving to hold our glasses and some bottles of alcohol. I like the one with cabinets as that is where we will store our games! I am also torn on what color to paint it.

OPTION 2: No arch No Bar

OPTION 3: No Arch with Bar in the center

SO... That is where I am. Inspired but have not MADE A DECISION. Any thoughts? ideas? Would love to hear!! xoxoTill next week!
