I heart belts...

I am officially addicted to belts...Everytime we go thrifting I always seem to find the cutest belts...here are just a few I snatched last weekend! Can't wait to wear them with some skirts, dresses and who knows what! Loving the bright colors too!

Now I spent some time searching through accessories and one of my best friends birthday was approaching fast and I was really trying to find some amazing finds. She knows who she is... she will be receiving her finds very soon and I am hoping she will post pics of them with her amazing thrifting outfits!!! Check out this bag I found...yeah...it's real!

I almost threw up when I found it...then the shocker...

$4.99 ??? WHAT? Are you serious? Who tagged this thing? The worst is when you are alone thrifting and you find yourself talking to anyone who is around..for me it was this cute Spanish woman who bless her heart had no idea what I was saying but just kept saying..."beautiful bag beautiful" Obviously they didn't know the ridiculously vintage goodness that is this Dooney bag...I actually don't like this brand nor do I like the new bags...but this is like a messenger style old fashioned bag that just tells a story of a women who worked 9-5...always had lip gloss and dressed to impress...who knows..that is what is so awesome about used things...the stories that come with it mean so much more than something new...and it doesn't hurt that you spent under FIVE DOLLARS!

So the heat is still very much a part of the day so skirts have been my friend for work... I love how I keep finding things in my closet I haven't worn in ages...I am also excited that I am actually starting to see some fat come off of me.

Saturday Morning Church (workouts)

So I have danced ever since I can remember, but as I have gotten older things have always gotten in the way of working out, school, family, friends, and sometimes anything I can find to avoid working out, but ever since I started going to Ken ( you will be introduced to him in a sec) I have been "redeemed."

My friend Edwina told me about this guy who used to teach body pump at LVAC and now taught at 24 hour. I went to his class as a guest and was completely blown away by the end. While it was your normal squat tracks, lunges, tri's, biceps, full body workout, there was something different. The music was amazing, but it was more than that.

He pushes you in a way that I can't explain. He's not pretentious and doesn't claim to know it all. He just pushes you further than you would normally go. Every week it is different and every week I find myself inspired to do great things. To fit into those size 28 jeans again, to run further than I ever have, to take risks. I mean isn't that why we workout? so that we can feel good?

At the end of every class he has us sit with our eyes closed listening to a track, usually something instrumental. When I first sat there I found myself wanting to open my eyes. Clearly I am not a yoga person..I was thinking about what I wanted to eat, what I was going to do that night, how my right ankle was hurting and if my butt crack was showing while I was sitting Indian style. When I finally was able to relax, I found myself crying. CRYING?Why am I crying? It was then when I realized that I don't let myself be with myself EVER. I mean how often do you find yourself by yourself, no TV, no distractions, just being. IT was like all of the weeks CRAP has unloaded on my head and I just let it go. GONE It is only 3 minutes, but in just one month I have found myself more inspired than ever before.

So I encourage all of you, preferably after a ridiculous workout, to sit down, turn on a favorite song, and just BE with yourself. Close your eyes and be proud of all that you do, all that you are and all that you will become. Give yourself some credit and then open your eyes, and get back to all of the amazing distractions called life. And here are some of our pics from after class!

Remembering Mom...

It has been almost 4 years since I lost my mother

There is such a rush of panic that overwhelms me when I think that she is gone. It's hard to believe, but I forget everyday. It's almost like I am reminded that she isn't here rather than remembering her. There were so many times I picked up the phone to call her this year.

When I turned 30, when my dad threw a party for me and made the best salmon he has ever made to date ( he is a ridiculously good cook, and he catered the party, but the only thing people complimented was this ridiculously tasty salmon), my sister getting her masters in marriage and family counseling, my new antique table for our dining room to celebrate holidays and friends, passover dinner, Sunday barbecues at the towers, when I wasn't feeling good and all I wanted was chicken and rice like my mom used to make and a hug, my random panic attacks in the middle of the day whist driving and listening to indie rock i.e. depression music :O)

I've said it before and I shall say it again, I only hope to accomplish the amazing things she did while she was here.

    

When I lost my mother I was told something that I always remind myself when I find that the day gets too hard to get through. It was our Rabbi who said, everyone was put on this earth to do something, a mission or simply to change someones life, everyone has a purpose. Though we don't understand why these people leave us, it is the understanding that when these special people leave us their work here is complete. I will never understand, but I found it easier to forgive, though selfish I want her to be here when I finally have a dining room table, when I become famous and star next to Brandon and Dylan in the new 90120, when adam and I start our family and I become a mom, on my sisters wedding day...I'm mad MAD, that she will not be here. She deserves to be here, and I am MAD. that's right, and sometimes I try to act like it is what it is, and life happens...but I am still MAD and I just don't get it. I'm scared to start a family, I'm not going to have my mom here to help me, or give me a advice. And the worst part is all of my friends have had children, ALL OF THEM, and sometimes I just watch them and wonder how am I going to even make it through a pregnancy without totally falling into an emotional mess and crawl up in a corner and eat nothing but french fries and peanut butter. wheeew..sorry, I kinda got carried away there. I want to be strong for everyone but sometimes you get home and you end up alone dealing with all of the emotions you haven't shared with anyone.

She passed on July 26, 2007, she was an amazing daughter, wife, mother, nurse. She never had road rage or got upset. She always saw the good in people and always wanted to help in anyway. She was a thrifter who made everything look amazing, she spoke 5 languages and pronounced the word delicate " deliiiiiiicauttttt" She was sick most of her life but never showed any sign of pain. She loved life, she loved us, and always wanted to learn more. She believed in the power of the mind and healing. She never wanted to be a victim and always fought for what she believed in. I can't believe she isn't here, but we will continue to keep her memory alive by sharing stories with everyone we meet.

Fashion Motivation to end Fashion week

Ok, I know I posted my fashion already, but I needed some motivation to go grocery shopping and run some necessary errands. So I thought if I felt cute I would want to run my errands! I was right! and I am getting ready to leave in just a bit! (I'm changing into flip flops, don't think for a second I would attempt Costco in heels)

Summer Fashion Week: Sunday

Last night we went to Petes Piano Bar at Town Square for our good friend Jolana's 30th. I am happy that all of my friends are entering into this world of exhaustion, hurting bones, and unusual feelings. Petes is always a good time, but Adam and I wanted to drink some wine and hang out outside before we went in. Yeah, bad idea..I wish I had a picture of the sweat all over my face and back of my neck from attempting to relax on a bench, which I later got stuck to by the suction of my legs...hahaha I was born here and this heat is RIDICULOUS...anyway, I wore this dress I found at Marshall's. I love me some Marshall's, but when you shop in thrift stores it is hard to pay more than $10 for anything, so I shop the sale racks. This was 12.99 at Marshall's. I wish you could feel it, so comfy and it has POCKETS! I've decided that anything that has pockets must be purchased!

I washed my hair folks, only to put in a ponytail shortly after the meltdown on the bench. The earrings I wore were a gift from a friend in Orange County who is super crafty like me and made them by hand. I was so excited to get these I've been wearing them with everything. Oh and sorry about the horrible picture quality, and the random white dots that are on my face haha.

Summer Fashion Week:Saturday

This week has been crazy, work has really had me all over the place. I haven't posted my Thursday and Friday pics but I will have to make up for them today. Friday was date night and my husband made me dinner when I got home! I am usually the one cooking something ethnic and always unique. But this one has to be the most thoughtful dinner...he made shake n bake. Yep, Shake N bake. I had never had it nor did I know what it was. And well, it was tasty! of course I had to add chalula and Tabasco to it. We then went to see Inception. Boy, this was my type of movie. I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but if any of you have lost someone you will know what I mean. I was pretty emotional towards the end. Adam saw it differently, but that made for an interesting conversation afterwards. Great writing and thought process. The movie was 3 hours and it felt like 30 minutes. Well done. I recommend Inception.

Ok on to my fashion. I kept it kind of simple. I lost my sweater at the movie theatre, kind of sad I think that means I can go shopping :O) Once again it was hot, 112. I love long dresses, they are so comfortable, and I have been wearing my hair in a ponytail lately and twisting it! When your hair is dirty, it's 112, and you are lazy, creativity is at its best!

Summer Fashion Week: Wednesday

Ok, I didn't wear this today but I did wear it to a BBQ over the weekend. I just fell in love with this dress! The colors, the comfort and I added a belt I also found to it which made it give me a little bit more of a waist. My friend Edwina and I went to the sale of all sales! 50% OFF everything at Savers. I thought that I was the only one who knew about this but when we arrived (20 minutes early) there were over 50 people already in line with their coffees. The one thing I like to do is check out our competition. If I notice that no one has my style that is a good sign. Because even if they come across a find they are less likely to pick it up!

But you have to be careful of lurkers...ladies, you know who I am talking about. The women who kind of follow you around and when you put something back they grab it. Or they ask for your opinion only waiting for you to set it down! BEWARE! I even had a lady tell me that this item I picked up was a little cracked, Lady: " Umm yeah I almost picked that same thing up, but it is cracked, I definitely wouldn't buy it" ME: "Oh I don't care about the crack I think it is super cute!" Lady: Oh well, I would never buy ANYTHING CRACKED" said in a very angry voice.

Anyway, back to the dress, It was only $5.99 50% off and the belt was .99 so $.50. Can't beat it! Sorry this is the only pic I have.

Summer Fashion Week: Tuesday

Ok, I am behind in publishing these posts, I wish I had more time. I am actually waiting for a client as I do this on my laptop :O) I must say, I have found myself pulling all my fun colors out of the closet ever since I started this! You always know what mood I am in when I am wearing black, grey, or beige. I will admit that when I have meetings all day I can not and will not wear my hair down, which is why it is in a bun again. I recently picked this granny skirt up at a thrift store for $4.99 marked 50% OFF!

I don't know if most of you know but thrift stores give discounts as if it wasn't cheap enough. I just loved the color and did I mention it had elastic in the waist? So comfortable. I am sure most of you feel the same, but I get so excited when I find a deal and something unique. I can spend $100 on something and throw it on the floor, but not my $4.99 granny skirt! hahaha My husband laughs at me all the time. I will very meticulously put away all of my thrifted items, but my ridiculously overpriced jeans will be sitting on the floor in our closet...oh priorities! I also love this shirt, for some reason flowers and buttons make me happy lately. I also decided to wear lipstick, maybe I will wash my hair tomorrow ;O)

Summer Fashion Week: Monday

So my mom and I always shared love for a deal and over the past couple of years I have really gotten back to my roots...my thrifty roots, and I must say I have gotten really good. My sister and one of my best friends Edwina told me I should start a fashion blog...it seemed like a lot of work, but I thought hey, I could just take pictures of my outfits and share them, no big deal. It just so happened that as I was searching the blog world I came across a very stylish young lady who started a fashion week this week by logging your looks. So I will attempt to take better quality photos, but my weeks have been so busy I barely have time to sleep :O(

(I like this shirt because it's blue, my favorite color and it's really light for summer).


Everyone in my industry wears a suit..I am trying to break that mold...I have also come to the conclusion that suits can make you look stuffy and when you live in Vegas it is almost nearly impossible to look decent walking into a clients office when you are sweating.

The skirt really isn't much of anything but I was trying to keep it professional as I had appointments all day.

The shoes are fun and so comfortable!

This was the perfect " I have meetings and I don't want to sweat over my clients" outfit!

Weekend wrap up:

What a busy weekend! I am so glad that I have someone like my husband to share all the many adventures with. The week was tough but a good one and I was ready for Friday! Our first adventure was a thrifty one. Yes I know, I still have projects that I have not yet begun or finished, but when you see a deal you must jump on it!

We decided we would take the puppies ( for those if you who don't know the puppies are 2 1/2 years old, I still see them as puppies even though they weigh over 70 lbs) along for the ride! They were really excited.

These chairs with ottoman were our first stop! Adam really wanted a reading chair for the office so that he could get away and read in peace. I plan on re-upholstering these babies not sure what fabric yet, but I will let Adam choose the fabric for his chair, might be dangerous :O)



We were then off once again and picked up these lovely wing back chairs.My vision for these chairs have been long overdue. I can't wait to make these puppies white and set them up on the kitchen!




After our finds we had to rush home and prepare for our head shots. I can't tell you how nervous I was. Not only did I feel honored once again to be working with http://www.altf.com/ but Dalisa and John have become great friends and I just admire their spirit and creativity. It seems that every time I am around them I am inspired! These two are not only amazing photographers and visionaries, but they truly live where they work and breathe their passion every second of everyday. Can you imagine that? Thank you John and Dalisa for always inspiring me and making me feel beautiful.

Prior to arriving at the studio I went to one of my dearest friends house, Jolana Adamson. Not only is she an amazing singer and mother, but she is a makeup artist and makes me look flawless every time! IF you are ever looking for a make up artist you must go to jolana! Check out her website she does everything from weddings to movie stars! THANK YOU JOLANA!I also got to play with her daughter Teah who is just adorable. We chatted ( she is 1) while we I was there.

So I got to ALTF's amazing studio and this is the dressing room! One of my best friends Edwina was also there for me giving me the confidence I needed while getting ready. Thank you Edwina! I must also say my sister helped me get my nerves in check before I got there as well.

After head shots we then drove to my best friend Jennifer Wikler's house for drinks and dessert, though I think we ate more than just dessert :O) We had a great time, we always do with the Wikler's, until Adam fell asleep whilst we were talking, haha.

The pics below were taken a couple of weeks ago at the NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK CONCERT! I have been waiting over 15 years to see these monkey's. I was so excited and they were amazing, seriously...

So on Saturday we recovered, cleaned and got ready for dinner at Mahesh's and Mamtu's house! WE just love getting together with these two! They are Indian and cook the most amazing Indian food ever! I am always trying to steal spices and recipes from them. I wish I had taken a picture of the food. I am getting better with this blogging thing, I am actually really liking it. It helps me re-live everything and realize how much fun we really have. Anyway,

Sunday rolled around rather quickly and we joined Eric and Kimberly Miles! Adam has known Eric for sometime but I had only met Kimberly one time before, and we love them! We just clicked and had such a good time. They invited us to the Verandah Room!

If you have not been there, GO! It is so amazing! We felt like we were on vacation!

The Pool

Now this is the weather before 3pm. I didn't have a picture of the black cloud that quickly covered the entire city. It was about 55 degrees and began raining as we walked out...haha we were FREEZING! haha
After the pool we went to Danny Tarkanians meet and greet. I was not thrilled but I am glad I went. I agree with a lot of his thoughts on health care and our city, I am re-thinking my vote.
